I went and test drove a bike this morning and I liked it so much I bought it. This now is my 1997 Suzuki Marauder 800. It needs nothing, doesn’t look like its ever been horizontal, came with a thick packet of service records, and has a sweet spot 31,000 miles on it, so it’s been ridden often but not too much. Best of all it so comfortable for me. And it’s fast enough to impress some one used to a 200. Lol
Th e only thing I want to do to it is remove the “I wish I was a Harley” badges on the tank and replace them with some nice white Suzuki decals. Something like these

Nice addition to the stable!
I’m with you on those badges, something else like those decals will look better.

Congrats, 6'2" on a 200 probably wasn’t a great long term fit. New bike looks perfect for the riding season up here.
Any unwanted effects from the windscreen at speed without changing your posture from in town speeds?

Contrarian HD image is skewing your impression, and his. In fact he is falling into that exact trap. Think about it. It also serves a practical purpose having a thicker surface wear resistant surface in that exact spot . Which is ultimately why it exists in that form.
He should go r ide it around enough to complain about the seat and any number of other actually important things he ’ll be tempted to “improve” long before adjusting to the bike sufficiently. Winter is long, sales will be plentiful.

Oh that windshield is awful. Absolutely useless. When I test drove it, it wasn’t on the bike. The PO put it on before I came back to picked it up (had to run to the bank to get cash). It puts all the wind pressure right on your face.
It can be adjusted about 4 inches higher tho, I’m going to try it at the highest setting and if it still doesn’t work it’ll go on a self for the next owner b

That’s a fair point that I had not thought about.
I always want to tinker and modify things. I think I’m going to try to leave this alone in the name of resale value lol

A tank badge like that doesn’t have anything to do with wear resistance it is purely visual.
Bikes in particular are regularly heavily modified in the taste of the owner and there’s nothing wrong with that.

those badges are OEM. keep them safe, that way no one thinks you dropped and used some aftermarket tank

Yeah, wearing through the sides of steel motorcycle tanks is always an issue.
What?

This is actually for sale near me, but I didn’t want to go ride it 1 because I don’t trust myself with that kind of bike and 2 because it’s about 1000 more than I wanted to spend. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/264738388160828/

Ooooooh. An early 6th Gen. I hear that when VTEC kicks in in the upper rev range it's pretty jerky. Watch out!

I’ve owned an D16y8 car and a B18c1 car. I’ve experienced real V TEC on 4 wheels I can’t image how fun it would be on 2. Some how I never even considered it a possibility. Now I wanna try it.

How did a wild weekend of riding it non-stop go with the windshield adjusted?

It was a bit better adjusted higher, but still not great. I still prefer riding without it. Bike looks better without it too.

I agree it looks better.
With a full face helmet you can smile whenever you want anyways.

Yeah. I was riding with a buddy that wears a half helmet, we was ducking down be hind his windshield anytime we got over 55. I seriously don’t understand the appeal is a half lid. Other than trying to save a few bucks. Which does not seem worth it at all
